Born on Leap Day 14 years ago...we knew he was special from the start. It has been hard to start this Blog...after 14 years I don’t know where to begin. So much has happened in this time.
He was diagnosed with Opitz Syndrome somewhere around 7 months.
By the first year, he was diagnosed as having moderate to severe hearing loss in both ears.
He became deathly ill around 18 months and many years later, he was diagnosed as having Crohn's Disease.
He learned to walk at age 7 1/2.
He still does not talk and does not use any formal communication system.
He does not feed himself and eats a pureed diet. Some of this I blame on the Crohn's Disease, for all the medical interruptions in feeding.
We have been working on toileting for the 3 past years. He has made some progress, but still has a long way to go.
